Kalaimamani award winning writer and film historian Vamanan has come out with a sumptuous volume of the hard-to-find prestigious film journal of the past, ‘Gundusi’.
This is the centenary year of the path-breaking journalist P.R.S. Gopal, who introduced the question-answer format into Tamil journalism back in 1937 and edited the lavish film journal ‘Gundusi’ which made waves in the late forties and early fifties.
Vamanan has brought out an informative biography of Gopal, who was known for his integrity and impartiality, and also presents Gundusi pages on the lives of stars, reviews of films and scintillating answers to questions asked by readers.
This 450-page volume is a wonderful gift to readers during the book festival, and a must-read for students of Tamil cinema and for those with a yen for memorabilia of the past. The publisher is Manivachagar Pathippagam 044 – 25361039 (Press Release))
